Team Achilles Sweeps PRO2 Podium at Formula DRIFT Seattle

IRVINE, CALIF., August 7, 2017 – Team Achilles PRO and PRO2 returned to Evergreen Speedway for the sixth round of the Formula DRIFT Championship last week. 

Drivers competing on Achilles Radial tires swept the podium in the PRO2 class, with local driver Matt Vankirk standing in the top spot on the podium.  Dylan Hughes finished second with 2016 PRO2 Rookie of the Year, Dirk Stratton, rounding out the podium with third place.  This is the second event this season with an all Team Achilles podium.  The 2017 PRO2 competition finals will be held next month at Texas Motor Speedway, with the championship still a tight race!

Team Achilles would start the weekend strong with Michael Essa qualifying fourth with Kristaps Bluss right behind him in fifth place.  Robbie Nishida and Dean Kearney would both retire in Top 32 with Kearney sustaining damage from debris causing his tire to deflate during the second half of his battle.  Essa and Bluss both received One More Time calls in their respective Top 16 battles, and would each fall to mechanical issues during their second battles.  Achilles Radial currently sits third in the Tire Manufacturer Championship.

The current points standings for Team Achilles PRO are as follows:

3^rd Place – Kristaps Bluss

5^th Place – Michael Essa

10^th Place – Dean Kearney

22^nd Place – Robbie Nishida
